Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:
In accordance with the County Charter Section 13-4, it is my pleasure to submit my nomination
of Nicole Lui for reappointment to the Cultural Resources Commission.
The Council recently confirmed Ms. Lui on January 22, 2020, with a term expiration date of
December 31, 2020. She is now eligible to serve a full five-year term.
Ms. Lui is a Kama'aina of Hawai'i Island and is a passionate advocate for melding development
and the cultural connection. Through her work in various organizations, including Kaloko-
Honokohau National Historic Park Advisory Commission, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Queen
Lili`uokalani Trust, State Historic Preservation Division, among others, Nicole brings a wealth
of understanding and experience in ethno-historical, archaeological, geneological and land tenure
research, geography, native flora and fauna, as well as native Hawaiian burial protocols. If
confirmed, she will serve a five-year term to end December 31, 2025.
