Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Cortney Okumura of District 8 to our Game Management Adviory
Commission.
Ms. Okumura has been a Hawai'i resident for 16 years. She is currently the Director of Human
Resources and Executive Assistant to the President and CEO of The Kohala Center. She has
spent much of her career supporting the mission to build pilina with our `aina and community.
She has learned and observed how to foster and encourage an orientation toward stewardship,
and malama `aina, while recognizing contemporary approaches to creating solutions.
Ms. Okumura earned her bachelor's of arts in Psychology in 2003 and served as Program
Administrator for the Mellon-Hawai'i Fellowship Program and Hawaiian Doctoral and
Postdoctoral Fellowship Program from 2010-2018. If confirmed, Ms. Okumura will serve a full
tenn ending December 31, 2025.
