A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF A BRONZE STATUE OF A MYTHOLOGICAL FISHERMAN TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'I.
WHEREAS, Henry Bianchini is a local sculptor and craftsman who was commissioned for the sculpture of King David Kalākaua that sits at Kalākaua Park in downtown Hilo; and
WHEREAS, Henry Bianchini would like to donate a bronze statue of a mythological fisherman (Exhibit A) with a total value of $10,000 to the County of Hawai‘i, Department of Parks and
Recreation; and
WHEREAS, this bronze statue will be placed at Liliʻuokalani Gardens; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawai‘i County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities,
or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I, in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaiʻi County Charter, and Chapter 2,
Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Council of the County of Hawaiʻi accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Department of Finance, and the Office of the Mayor.
