We live in a small increasingly less diverse community where most local families have had to sell their properties due to high
property taxes and property insurance. A resident donated more money than is potentially to be appropriated to solve the problem
of a few homes with large numbers of visitors who were relying on cesspools and septic systems to take care of their waste. Instead
of fixing these home's using matching grants, our board hired a company who wasted the money on 4 color brochures, salaries for
themselves, and catered meetings at the Fairmont hotel.

We are being told that hookups will cost$800 a month, based on square footage of the structure, not on number of residents, or
water usage (which is a factor for sewage usage).
My husband has been a mauka homeowner in puako since 1994. That fee would force us to sell our home as we live on a fixed
retirement income.
Why is the puako neighborhood being singled out when we have runoff from Waikoloa village, Waimea, and the whole coastline up
past Kawaihae contributing effluent to the ocean?
Spending another$1.8M on a study is more of the same and unconscionable.
