Funding Bill 25; The allocation of county matching funds for Clean Water for
Reefs Puako Hawaii project.

Aloha, Chair Maile David, Vice-Chair Aaron Chung, and Members of the County
Council
The members and supporters of Legacy Reef Foundation strongly support this
action.
We all have known for many years the wastewater management system for
Puako is terribly substandard and in disrepair. As scientist, we have seen the
damage done to the local reefs and marine life, our coral reefs are dying from the
pollution and additional algae growth.
We now have funds available to take the first step in resolving this issue.
Understanding funds are tight everywhere, we ask that you allocate the
necessary matching funds to move this project along today. This is not
something that can wait any longer, we as a community need to protect our reefs
and marine life so they may benefit generations to come.
Please provide Hawai'i County matching funds for the Clean Water for Reefs
Puak6 Hawaii project.
