Aloha,
As a long time homeowner in Puako, I have been carefully watching this community project for about ten
years. Puako needs to have a community wide wastewater treatment facility. Because homeowners have never been
forced to close their cesspools, we still have numerous homes on the water and on the mauka side that use cesspools
and who continue to pollute the ocean, reef and shoreline with their waste_

It is absurd that there are still homes in Puako that are allowed to use cesspools. The quality of the reef and the
cleanliness of the water has been getting worse and worse. Studies indicate high levels of bacteria and other
contaminates every time a study is done. I swim daily and it is distressing to think of how dirty the water actually
is_ 'Ale have locals and visitors come to the Puako reef for snorkeling and diving. We need to have wastewater
treatment for all of Puako.

Please carry on and approve the assessment of this project. Our future depends on it. Don't let Puako reef(or
swimmers) die because of all of the raw sewage leeching into it.
