Aloha. I am writing to provide support for installing a community wide waste water treatment facility for
Puako. I have been involved in the community investigations and attempts to get funding to build a proper
facility to handle our waste water for over a decade. The community has spent lots of time and money
discussing and investigating possible solutions for handling the waste water in our beach side setting and I I
am convinced that the only feasible and scientifically appropriate solution is to develop a community wide
treatment facility to handle the wastewater- ie a sewerage treatment plant. Our studies have shown
possible solutions and have developed preliminary cost estimates which indicate governmental support is
needed to make it happen. We need to take action to keep our beach and reef safe and preserve it for
future generations. I understand financial assistance has been provided to other communities with similar
wastewater treatment considerations and I believe our community has proven its honest intent to make our
environment safer and better. We certainly pay our share of property taxes which should help. I am a
retired Dentist and also was a registered professional mechanical engineer and an interested private
citizen and member of the community. Mahalo.
