SUBJECT: Update from U.S. Senator Brian Schatz
By means of this communication, I am requesting 30 minutes at the March 17, 2021 Council meeting
for an update and discussion with our U.S. Senator Brian Schatz,regarding The American Rescue
Plan—a$1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package that recently passed Congress—and how these
resources will positively impact the State and County of Hawaii.
The Senator will be joining the Council via Zoom.
Given the limited time frame, all Council Members are asked to submit their questions for Senator
Schatz to the Council District 4 Office no later than Friday, March, 12, 2021, end of business day.
Email questions to Council Member Kierkiewicz at ashley.kierkiewicz@hawaiicounty.gov.
Questions will be consolidated and edited for clarity. In order to respect the Senator's schedule and
keep the discussion on track, Council Member Kierkiewicz will read all questions into the record and
note the Council Member it originated from.

RE: Resolution/Bill/Communication No. 171 UPDATE FROM U.S.
SENATOR BRIAN SCHATZ REGARDING THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN-A $1.9
TRILLION CORONOVIRUS RELIEF PACKAGE
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawaii,
this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be waived from the
Committee on Governmental Operations, Relations and Economic Development to the full Council for
immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that
approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the
event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the
Committee on Governmental Operations, Relations and Economic Development for placement on its
future agenda.
