Your Committee on Regenerative Agriculture, Water, Energy, and Environmental Management,
to which was referred Communication No. 165,reports as follows:
Communication No. 165, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated February 23, 2021,
submits for the Council's review and confirmation the nomination of Cortney Okumura to the
Game Management Advisory Commission. A motion to move Communication No. 165,to full
Council with a positive recommendation was made by Council Member Holeka Goro Inaba;
seconded by Council Member Susan Lee Loy.
Introduced by Pomaika`i Bartolome, Executive Assistant to Mayor Mitch Roth, Cortney
Okumura has been a Hawai`i resident for sixteen years and is employed as the Director of
Human Resources, and Executive Assistant to the President and CEO of The Kohala Center.
If confirmed, Ms. Okumura will serve a term ending on December 31, 2025.
Nominee Okumura addressed Your Committee appreciating the opportunity to serve the County
of Hawai`i. Council Members noted their appreciation of her willingness to serve and for the
knowledge she will bring to the Game Management Advisory Commission. With a favorable
vote, Committee Chair Herbert M. "Tim"Richards, III advised nominee Okumura that she was
not required to appear at the confirmation.
Your Committee on Regenerative Agriculture, Water, Energy, and Environmental Management
is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 165, and recommends
confirmation of the appointment of Cortney Okumura to the Game Management Advisory
Commission.
