Hello,
I had an agriculture land tax exemption for doing agriculture, i raise kalo, fruit trees, herbs, raise pot-bellied pigs, ducks and do
tilapia aqua-culture. Not for profit ,but for a healthier lifestyle, so i may be self sufficient and use Korean farming techniques, to
be able to have kalo and vegis fresh to eat and share with the younger community who want to learn. Then you changed my
neighborhood from ag to what-ever. I still had an exemption, but under some other weird category which allowed foreigners to
buy cheap and speculate, no longer required to be agriculture. I spoke against changing our isolated community to
housing. Nanakuli, deaf ears, now got a bunch of bulldozing with no regard to cultural sites, rare plants, climate change, no
water, and so on. but illegal sale with no clear title, by less than honest realtors just keep on occurring. Speculation, and all that
goes with it.
I moved from an over crowded O'ahu to be able to pursue my accomplishments, follow my culture, to live in harmony with the
aina. This is my given right. There was No land available there, unless rich, certainly not for a single mother or
otherwise. Homelessness is real.
Our family was pushed out of our lands as the Americans, Japanese and so on, exploited our home for greed and profit. YOU
raised our taxes so high we moved. At the expense of Ko Hawaii pae aina, we the people. Why, so the state/county (illegal)
could extract more fees and taxes. auwe! Shame on you. Now you trying to pull that here. Things have changed, you may now
be held accountable for your exploitation of our Hawaiian Kingdom Lands. You are bound by Hawaiian Kingdom laws, and if you
find that worrisome please ask Keanu Sai to do a presentation to educate you, or read the works available. You may be held
accountable for your actions. No more passing the buck. Please do not pass bill#27...a"ole. So an entity may profit at the
expense of the Hawaiian in Hawaii.
Aloha for your time, Olivia S.Y. Ling
