Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Gerald T. Kosaki of District 3 for appointment to the Fire
Commission.
Mr. Kosaki retired as Battalion Chief in 2018 from the Hawai`i Fire Department after 29 years of
dedicated service. He has received numerous awards and commendations throughout his
exemplary career, including the Recognition Award for Meritorious Service—County of Hawai`i
Council in 2019. Mr. Kosaki is the current Safety Director at Hawaiian Earth Recycling and a
Lifeguard at Kamehameha Schools, developing a certified Emergency Medical Response
training facility there.
Mr. Kasaki is committed to remaining active and involved and volunteers his time and
experience to numerous civic and educational organizations, andeas an avid tennis player, he has
served as past President of both Hilo Junior Tennis Club and East Hawaii District Tennis
Association. If confirmed, he will serve a term to end December 2022.
