Re: Resolution for multi-year lease
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year,
for one large two-man bucket truck for the Department of Public Works. The monthly
cost will be approximately $5,333.00. The equipment will be used island wide by the
Department of Public Works Signals and Street Lights Section to perform maintenance of
heavier traffic signal items.

A. REQUEST:
The Department of Public Works Traffic Division is requesting a resolution authorizing the payment of funds
of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal year for a multi-year lease of one (1) large Two-Man Bucket
Truck for the Signals and Street Lights section.The lease to purchase would be for a period of no more than
five (5)years.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The large two-man bucket truck will be used islandwide for performing maintenance of heavier traffic signal
items (e.g. traffic signal heads) in which the work would require assistance from a second person in the
bucket. Currenty, two single-man bucket trucks are used to perform the maintenance of these heavier signal
items. The new equipment will increase productivity and improve efficiency of the Traffic Signal& Street
Light crew in repairing and maintaining existing traffic signals and street lights.
The two-man bucket truck will also be used for training in the field in which the supervisor can work
alongside the trainee in the same bucket.
This lease is for a period of no more than five (5) years. The purchase price is approximately $320,000.00.
The estimated lease cost is approximately$5,333.00 per month or$63,996.00 annually. The County will own
the Bucket Truck at the end of the five (5) year lease period.
This lease is funded in the FY2020-21 Highway Fund budget and proposed FY2021-22 budget.
