Re: Provide Funds to Child and Family Support Services
On October 7, 2020, Resolution 744-20 was adopted authorizing the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant of$40,000 to Child and Family Support
Services, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney
wishes to increase the grant award by $10,000. Child and Family Support Services will
utilize the additional funds to provide shelter and support services to domestic violence
victims.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide an
additional $10,000 (total grant award of$50,000)to Child and Family Support Services,
pursuant to Hawai`i County Code (2005 Edition as amended) Chapter 2, Article 25,
Section 2-139(a)(3)(A).

A, REQUEST:
The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney receives a large grant from the Victims of Crimes Act (VOCA) to
support crime victim services in Hawai'i County (account no. 010.271.5271.56.115). The budget of this
contract was recently adjusted due to personnel movements, and it was determined that$10,000 was
available to provide additional funding to our contract with Child and Family Service: a current sub-awardee
of VOCA funds. We are requesting $10,000 be added to contract no. C.008952. The scope of activities in
this contract will,not change, nor will the contract period change.
8. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Child and Family Service provides a domestic violence shelter to domestic violence victims in both East and
West Hawai'i, to include advocacy and support services as well. Funds will be used to support these
services.
