RESOLUTION NO.
STATE OF HAWAII
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A
DONATION OF MOSAIC ALPHABET TILE BOARDS TO THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION.
WHEREAS, Gerdine Markus is donating 26 mosaic alphabet tile boards to the
County of Hawaii Department of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, Gerdine Markus and 11 other local artists collaborated to create the
mosaic tile boards; and
WHEREAS, the mosaic alphabet tile boards, valued at $12,000, will be placed on
pillars surrounding Lincoln Park; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides that the
council, on behalf of the county, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities, or other
personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII,, in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the County of
Hawaii, accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Department of Finance, and the
Office of the Mayor.
