Home My WebLink AboutRES 092 Draft 01 2020-2022 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY TO AWARD FUNDS TO CHILD AND FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of $25,000 to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance or resolution; and WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawai‘i County Code states, “nonprofit organization” means an organization organized for other than profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the Internal Revenue Code; and WHEREAS, on October 7, 2020, Resolution 744-20 was adopted authorizing the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant of $40,000 to Child and Family Support Services; and WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney wishes to increase the grant award and provide Child and Family Support Services an additional $10,000 of federal funds received through a Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) grant; and WHEREAS, Child and Family Support Services, which qualifies as a nonprofit organization as defined above, will continue to provide shelter and support services to domestic violence victims; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I, in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is authorized to provide an additional grant of $10,000, totaling $50,000 to Child and Family Support Services to provide services as indicated above. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance Department, and the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.
