A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WEST HAWAI‘I
VETERANS CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION ASSOCIATION, INC., TO CONSTRUCT A GOLD STAR MEMORIAL.
WHEREAS, the West Hawai‘i Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion Association, Inc., (WHVCDEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization consisting of veteran organizations, individual
veterans, and citizens that have organized and facilitated numerous beautification projects at the County’s West Hawai‘i Veterans Cemetery-Pu‘u Ho‘omaha O Na Po‘e Koa O Hawai‘i Komohana
(WHVC) in honor of our veterans; and
WHEREAS, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary to the Christopher Camero Memorial VFW Post 12122 will be constructing a Gold Star Memorial at WHVC to honor the courageous families
of fallen heroes that paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom of our country; and
WHEREAS, WHVCDEA has requested funds to assist with the costs associated with the construction of the Gold Star Memorial; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation works in partnership with WHVCDEA and is supportive of its efforts to maintain and improve WHVC; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to WHVCDEA to construct a Gold Star Memorial at WHVC.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
