Subject: Communication 183 written testimony
Regarding Communication 183, whereupon Mayor Roth is attempting to expel commissioner Mark Van Pernis for
simply not being a "yes man", I find that unacceptable. It is clear that with the disappointing tactics being used by
the mayor and his office that intelligent and dissenting viewpoints are going to be very important to Hawaii county.
Unless Mayor Roth has specific and compelling reasons, which he has failed to express, Commissioner Van Pernis
should remain as a respected commissioner. I can assure you this is a viewpoint shared by a lot of individuals that
simply don't want to be involved with providing testimony in the matter and do not want their names on the record.
Many of them are very shocked, surprised and disappointed with the way Mayor Roth is leading the county and
assure me they will express their opinion at the next voting opportunity or in a recall if the situation continues to
degrade.
