Nomination of Wendy Santos to the Transportation Commission dated March 2, 2021
Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members: Ms. Santos was nominated for the Council
District 3 vacancy on the Transportation Commission. As Ms. Santos does not currently reside
in Council District 3, please be advised that I am withdrawing her nomination.

Your Committee on Public Works and Mass Transit, to which was referred Communication No. 184,
reports as follows:
Communication No. 184, transmitted by the Honorable Mayor Mitch Roth, dated March 2, 2021,
nominates Wendy Santos of Council District 3 to the Transportation Commission.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Pomaika`i Bartolome, introduced the nominee.Ms. Santos is a
lifelong Hawai`i Island resident and a graduate of Hawai`i Community College. Ms. Santos holds an
Associate of Science degree in Data Processing and Accounting and has been employed with Roberts
Hawaii and Polynesian Adventures. She has been involved in many different community service
activities.
Committee member Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder asked what the applicant's experience was and why she
chose this committee. Ms. Santos responded she was a dispatcher and understood the needs of the
drivers. He also asked if Ms. Santos read through the MTA Master Plan. She responded that she looked
through it and would advocate for route expansion if it made sense.
Committee member Rebecca Villegas asked for clarification on the council district as there was a
discrepancy in the Kekuanao`a address. Ms. Bartolome clarified it should reflect District 3, as confirmed
by the Elections Division.
Committee Chair Sue Lee Loy thanked Ms. Santos for volunteering and is looking forward to providing
a better experience for our riders.

Communication No. 184, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Ms. Wendy Santos to the
Transportation Commission.
