RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE DONATION OF AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS FROM THE HILO MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION, FOR USE BY THE HAWAI‘I COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Hilo Medical Center Foundation is donating twenty (20) automated external defibrillators (AEDs) with training pads, cases and four-year maintenance; and
WHEREAS, this equipment, with an estimated value of approximately $34,994.96, will be utilized by the Hawai‘i County Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawai‘i County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities,
or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i County Police Department recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a)
of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Council of the County of Hawai‘i accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to Lisa Rantz, Executive Director, Hilo Medical Center Foundation, 1190 Waianuenue Avenue,
Hilo, Hawai‘i 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
