MULTI-YEAR LEASE OF REAL PROPERTY FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAIʻI POLICE DEPARTMENT WAREHOUSE IN KEA‘AU, DISTRICT OF PUNA.
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more
than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawai‘i (“County”) currently has a Lease for warehouse space for use by the County of Hawaiʻi Police Department (“HPD”), situated in Kea‘au, District of Puna,
County and State of Hawai‘i, from Geo Investment Company, Inc. (“Landlord”); and
WHEREAS, the Sixth Amended Lease dated June 29, 2017, is scheduled to terminate on
June 30, 2021; and
WHEREAS, HPD continues to need this storage space for the near future and has obtained approval by the landowner to amend and extend the Lease for an additional four (4) year period
commencing on July 1, 2021, through and ending June 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, HPD is requesting authorization for the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease agreement with Landlord for this warehouse space; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that the Honorable Mitchell Roth, Mayor of the County of Hawai‘i, is hereby authorized to enter into a multi-year extension of
the Lease with Geo Investment Company, Inc., for an additional four (4) year period commencing on July 1, 2021, through and ending June 30, 2025.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the amended Lease.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to: (1) Mayor Mitchell Roth; (2) Department of Finance; (3) County of Hawaiʻi Police Department; (4)
Renee Schoen, Deputy Corporation Counsel, Section Chief, and (5) Geo Investment Company, Inc., 57-B Hoaka Road, Hilo, Hawai‘i 96720.
