REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: April 20, 2021 Re: Comm.No. 188/Res.No. 82-21 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:30 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 82-21,reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 82-21, transmitted byCouncil Member Rebecca Ville as via Communication No. 188 <br /> Villegas <br /> March 24, 2021, authorizes the Director of Finance to enter into negotiations for the acquisition of <br /> tax map key 7-7-008:120 and 124, situated in the District of North Kona, also known as Pahoehoe of <br /> La'aloa,utilizing the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund. <br /> This resolution allows the County to enter into negotiations to acquire parcels, which consist of <br /> approximately 29.8 acres of land,to protect sacred burial grounds,natural resources, and buffer zones, <br /> and preserve and promote Hawaiian culture,tradition, and customary practices.
