STATE OF HAWAII
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO PATH FOR
REIMBURSEMENT OF SHIPPING EXPENSES FOR ADA -COMPLIANT BENCHES
FOR THE WAIMEA COMMUNITY.
WHEREAS, PATH - Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that was established in 1986, with the mission to connect people and places on
Hawaii Island with pathways and bikeways; and
WHEREAS, PATH worked with Blue Zones Project, Parker Ranch, and the community
in identifying how ADA -compliant benches would benefit residents and visitors within the
Waimea area; and
WHEREAS, PATH is requesting funds for a reimbursement of expenses for the
shipment of twelve ADA -compliant benches for the Waimea community; and
WHEREAS, this project falls within the Department of Public Work's mission in
working together to improve the quality of service for the health and safety of our island
community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of
Public Works to provide a grant to PATH to reimburse shipping expenses for twelve ADA -
compliant benches for the Waimea community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Public Works and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
