Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety, to which was referred
Communication No. 194,reports as follows:
Communication No. 194, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated March 31, 2021,
submitting for the Council's review and confirmation the appointment of Gerald T. Kosaki of
Council District 3 to the Fire Commission.
Executive Assistant Pomaika`i Bartolome was present at Council Chambers in Hilo and
introduced the nominee who appeared via zoom.
Several Council Members commented in favor of appointment, and Chair Inaba stated that
confirmation before Council would take place in two weeks.
Pursuant to Sections 7-4.5 and 13-4 of the Hawai`i County Charter, members of the Fire
Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council.
Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety is in accord with the purpose and intent
of Communication No. 194 and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Gerald T. Kosaki
to the Fire Commission.
