COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HUI HO`OLEIMALUO TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH ITS COMMUNITY WORKDAY PROGRAM. WHEREAS, Hui Ho`oleimaluo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides opportunities for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) skill building, place -based learning, and community engagement through the maintenance and management of coastal ecosystems with a current focus on loko i`a (Hawaiian fishpond) restoration and small-scale community farming in the ahupua`a of Waidkea; and WHEREAS, Hui Ho`oleimaluo's community workday program consists of a quarterly event held at Richardson Ocean Park and the surrounding area that provides interactive learning activities and teaches participants of all ages about native plants, animal species, cultural sites, loko i`a restoration, and Hawaiian farming methods; and WHEREAS, Hui Ho`oleimalub is requesting funds to purchase supplies and materials for its community workday program; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide variety of services to meet the needs of the community while maintaining the cultural uniqueness of our rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha spirit; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hui Ho`oleimaluo to assist with expenses associated with its community workday program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
