A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HUI HOʻOLEIMALUŌ
TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH ITS COMMUNITY WORKDAY PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Hui Hoʻoleimaluō is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides opportunities for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) skill building, place-based
learning, and community engagement through the maintenance and management of coastal ecosystems with a current focus on loko iʻa (Hawaiian fishpond) restoration and small-scale community
farming in the ahupua‘a of Waiākea; and
WHEREAS, Hui Hoʻoleimaluō’s community workday program consists of a quarterly event held at Richardson Ocean Park and the surrounding area that provides interactive learning activities
and teaches participants of all ages about native plants, animal species, cultural sites, loko i‘a restoration, and Hawaiian farming methods; and
WHEREAS, Hui Hoʻoleimaluō is requesting funds to purchase supplies and materials for its community workday program; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide variety of services to meet the needs of the community while maintaining the cultural uniqueness of our
rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha spirit; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to Hui Hoʻoleimaluō to assist with expenses associated with its community workday program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
