A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ALOHA CLUB OF
HILO TO PURCHASE COMPUTER EQUIPMENT FOR HALE ʻOLUEA CLUBHOUSE.
WHEREAS, the Hale ʻOluea Clubhouse (“Clubhouse”) is a voluntary, psychosocial rehabilitation program for adults with mental health disabilities in East Hawai‘i, and is also a branch
of Clubhouse International which has 300 clubhouses in 30 countries; and
WHEREAS, the Clubhouse has a unique rehabilitation format where participants are “members” rather than clients, and they work with staff to foster participation through self-determination;
and
WHEREAS, the Aloha Club of Hilo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises funds for the Clubhouse and provides training for staff and volunteers as well as vocational and educational
programs for Clubhouse members; and
WHEREAS, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Clubhouse has increased its online video trainings to maintain its services and programs; and
WHEREAS, the Aloha Club of Hilo has requested funds for the purchase of computer equipment to accommodate the increase of online video trainings for Clubhouse members; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports public programs that promote drug-free and alcohol-free activities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Aloha Club of Hilo to purchase computer equipment for Hale ʻOluea Clubhouse.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
