HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 121 Draft 01 2020-2022A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HILO HIGH SCHOOL
FOUNDATION FOR THE 2021 HILO HIGH SCHOOL COMMEMORATIVE GIFT FOR GRADUATING SENIORS.
WHEREAS, the Hilo High School Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; and
WHEREAS, the Hilo High Foundation assists Hilo High School and its students with programs and activities, including graduation ceremonies; and
WHEREAS, traditional graduation night activities designed to provide a healthy and safe venue for graduates have been cancelled due to COVID 19 restrictions; and
WHEREAS, as an alternative to traditional graduation night festivities, Hilo High School Foundation will be presenting a unique gift to each graduate to commemorate this milestone achievement;
and
WHEREAS, the Hilo High School Foundation is requesting funds to defray the cost of the 2021 commemorative gifts for graduating seniors; and
WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control’s goals is to support programs that promote the health, education, and well-being of the youth in our community with alcohol- and drug-free
events such as graduation ceremonies; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Hilo High School Foundation for the 2021 Hilo High School commemorative gift for graduating seniors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
