Subject: SUPPORT reso 80-83 to protect Kona lands with PONC funds (finance committee 4/20/21)
Aloha Chair Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder,Vice Chair Kimball, and other members of the COII Finance Committee,
Just saw the article in this morning's paper and wanted to chime in to say that I am in full support of
using PONC funds to acquire the four parcels in North Kona (district 7) - resolutions 80-21,
81-21, 82-21, and 83-21. This Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation (PONC)
Fund was established to purchase properties such as these into perpetuity,which ranked 9, 15, 14 and :i6 by
the PONC Commission. As there is ample money in the PONC kitty at the moment (over $18M) I think it's
important to continue to move these land acquisitions forward before costs of these (mostly) coastal
properties continue to rise.
