My name is Frank Sayre and I speak in favor of Resoution-80-21 to purchase
Kekealaniwahine at Banyans (Aphupua'a of Holualoa) TMK 7-6-014:013 consisting of
215.373 sq. ft. with the PONC funding available for land preservation. I concur with the
resolution which states :
"Banyans is the favorite surf spot for the entire island. It is famous for its annual keiki
surf contests. This sport is a Hawaiian cultural practice and it gives Hawaii people a
sense of place. There are very few undeveloped lots along the oceanfront and this one
impacts the surf community at large. The community managed to stop a 5 story condo,
20 feet back from shoreline. We have a willing seller and we must stop building up our
ocean front. It causes erosion and pollution and makes our ocean unsafe to enjoy."
This type of land purchase is exactly what our community envisioned when it passed the
2 % Land Acquisition amendment years ago. c73;
