RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF MONETARY DONATIONS OF $42,300 TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I
WHEREAS, HieHie Communications (donation amount of $700), Hawai‘i Tropical Botanical Garden (donation amount of $5,000), The Edmund Olson Family Foundation (donation amount of $10,000),
Hawaiian Electric in care of HTBG (donation amount of $5,000), Ulupono Initiative (donation amount of $1,600) and an anonymous donor (donation amount of $20,000) are donating $42,300
to the County of Hawai‘i; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used towards the costs and expenses of the County of Hawai‘i Sustainability Summit; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai‘i County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities,
or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by Resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i County Department of Finance has requested that cash donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal Resolution process; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Mayor recommends the acceptance of these donations; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a)
of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Council of the County of Hawai‘i accepts these donations.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letters of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to HieHie Communications, 76-6311 Mahuahua Pl, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740-2223, Hawai‘i Tropical
Botanical Garden, 27-717 Old Māmalahoa Hwy., Pāpa‘ikou, HI 96781, The Edmund Olson Family Foundation, 11560 Tennessee Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90064, Hawaiian Electric in care of HTBG,
27-717 Old Māmalahoa Hwy., Pāpa‘ikou, HI 96781 and Ulupono Initiative, 999 Bishop Street, Suite 1202, Honolulu, HI 96813 and that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Department
of Finance and the Office of the Mayor to acknowledge these generous donations.
