A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAIʻI RISE FOUNDATION
FOR THE HONOMŪ RESILIENCE HUB, TO SUPPORT SUMMER LEARNING AND RECREATION FOR KEIKI.
WHEREAS, Hawaiʻi Rise Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for vulnerable, or moderate and low-income families and children by providing
educational and cultural services, programs, and support; and
WHEREAS, Vibrant Hawaiʻi is a community organization dedicated to shifting deficit narratives, systems, and policy that perpetuate poverty and inequity, and implementing strategies that
are developed and resourced by the community and reflect native intelligence; and
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Rise Foundation is working with Vibrant Hawai‘i and the Honomū Resilience Hub to provide a summer learning and recreation program for the keiki of the community; and
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Rise Foundation is requesting funds to support Honomū Resilience Hub’s ability to continue offering these essential services, specifically providing learning support
and recreation for keiki, during the summer of 2021; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this project, because it is compatible with its mission to provide diversified recreation programs that address the needs and
interests of the respective communities in a safe environment with zero tolerance for illegal drugs and violence for residents in Hawaiʻi County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to Hawaiʻi Rise Foundation for the Honomū Resilience Hub to support summer learning and recreation for keiki in the community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
