COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />IL2 7 2i <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII RISE <br />FOUNDATION FOR THE HONOMU RESILIENCE HUB, TO SUPPORT SUMMER <br />LEARNING AND RECREATION FOR KEIKI. <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Rise Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to <br />creating opportunities for vulnerable, or moderate and low-income families and children by <br />providing educational and cultural services, programs, and support; and <br />WHEREAS, Vibrant Hawaii is a community organization dedicated to shifting deficit <br />narratives, systems, and policy that perpetuate poverty and inequity, and implementing strategies <br />that are developed and resourced by the community and reflect native intelligence; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Rise Foundation is working with Vibrant Hawaii and the Honomu <br />Resilience Hub to provide a summer learning and recreation program for the keiki of the <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Rise Foundation is requesting funds to support Honomu Resilience <br />Hub's ability to continue offering these essential services, specifically providing learning support <br />and recreation for keiki, during the summer of 2021; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this project, because it is <br />compatible with its mission to provide diversified recreation programs that address the needs <br />and interests of the respective communities in a safe environment with zero tolerance for <br />illegal drugs and violence for residents in Hawaii County; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hawaii Rise Foundation for the Honomu Resilience <br />Hub to support summer learning and recreation for keiki in the community; and <br />
