X28 21 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO BRIDGE HOUSE INC., <br />TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS VOCATIONAL EDUCATION <br />PROGRAM IN KONA. <br />WHEREAS, Bridge House Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides clean <br />and sober housing, substance abuse treatment and vocational education for adults in recovery <br />from drug and alcohol addiction; and <br />WHEREAS, Bridge House Inc., through its Vocational Education Program, assists <br />recovering adults to prepare for employment by offering horticultural skill training such as <br />garden cultivation and management, and by teaching conflict resolution skills, communication <br />enhancement, and healthy life practices; and <br />WHEREAS, Bridge House Inc., is requesting funds to pay for gardening equipment and <br />supplies for its Vocational Education Program; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support public <br />and youth programs that promote educational activities in a drug- and alcohol -free environment, <br />such as Bridge House Inc.'s Vocational Education Program; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Bridge House Inc., for expenses related to its Vocational <br />Education Program. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
