RESOLUTION NO. X28 21
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO BRIDGE HOUSE INC.,
TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
PROGRAM IN KONA.
WHEREAS, Bridge House Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides clean
and sober housing, substance abuse treatment and vocational education for adults in recovery
from drug and alcohol addiction; and
WHEREAS, Bridge House Inc., through its Vocational Education Program, assists
recovering adults to prepare for employment by offering horticultural skill training such as
garden cultivation and management, and by teaching conflict resolution skills, communication
enhancement, and healthy life practices; and
WHEREAS, Bridge House Inc., is requesting funds to pay for gardening equipment and
supplies for its Vocational Education Program; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support public
and youth programs that promote educational activities in a drug- and alcohol -free environment,
such as Bridge House Inc.'s Vocational Education Program; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Bridge House Inc., for expenses related to its Vocational
Education Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
