Please Protect and Preserve these 4 Very Important Parcels, 1 parcel as a Floodway Protective/Buffe.. rea yin
the Heart of Holualoa Town and the other 3 parcels as Historic Culturally-Important Properties. In turn these
properties will benefit many for Public Use, Enjoyment, Community Enhancement, Nature Enhancement,
Culture Enhancement and Cultural Preservation/Perpetuation,for PONC, for our Generation and Future
Generations. It is very vital that these lands be preserved in these ways because the population grows and
land of this Cultural and Location Quality becomes scarcer. What makes Hawaii so attractive is being lost
when our Natural Resources are not preserved, protected and restored.. The need is not just immediately in
the present but also Medium and Long Term for the future to perpetuate the Kona Ambiance,the reason why
Kona, Hawaii is so unique and attractive to the entire World. This Uniqueness and Special Atractiveness just
didn't happen because of complacent non-caring people, normal reasons, it takes foresight, effort and the
willingness of Supporters and of the Council,those with delegated authority and responsibliity, to preserve
the Land and Nature. Without the Genuine Unselfish Hawaiian Ways,the Malama of the Aina,and giving
back to the land. we would be just status quo, nothing desired, nothing special. I have met many, many
Worldwide Travelers and they all say that Kona is their favorite destination, because it still has that Country
Ambiance,the Magic,that is disappearing or depleted from many other places Worldwide. Please
Purchase and Preserve these 4 Unique Properties with PONC Funds:
1) Res. 83-21 Ke Ala Kakou Holualoa Community Forest TMK: 3-7-6-004-003 2.488 Acres
2) Res. 80-21 Keakealaniwahine of Holualoa /Banyan's area Property TMK#: 3-7-6-14-13 consisting of 15,372
square feet,
3) Res.82-21 Pahoehoe of La'aloa Property TMK#: 3-7-7-6-120 & 124 consisting of 29.8 acres,
4) Res. 81-21 Magic Sands of La'aloa Property TMK#: 3-7-7-4-63 consisting of 8.814 acres.
I strongly support the purchase of these 4 land parcels for PONC Open Space. I was born and raised here in
Kona and always tried to consistently and constantly give back to the Community, by things such as teaching
the kids Life Guard Rescue Skills and First Responder Level First Aid, at no charge. I also taught Sustainable
Agriculture and the Conservation of our Natural Resources, especially for the kids. I also was on the Board of
Directors for Family Support Services many years back, all of this to keep Hawaiianess alive in a little way that I
could offer. My well- respected father was a Kalo Farmer in Kohala and here in Kona, he taught me the vital
importance of Malama our Aina, not just for now but for our future generations. He also taught me the
important rule of what we reap is what we did sow earlier...if we neglect it, if we don't take care of our land
now and let it be exploited, there will be no more land, no more Healthy Natural Resources, no more
Hawaiianess that we could preserve and keep alive and healthy. Our Success, our Health, is directly dependent
on how we take care of our lands. It is a law as certain as the law of gravity is. We should+.be proud of that` n IIG

responsibility,that privilege and it is our duty to do that as Stewards of the valuable Earth,the valuable
Hawaii. What we do today is what influences our future. With these 4 very important and special properties,
one above the Mamalahoa Hwy in Holualoa Town and the other 3 along the Alii Drive, we can at the very least
keep the Hawaii Culture going, keep the True Essence of Hawaii alive Preserve some Natural Resources and not
allow it to disappear.

please purchase these 4 lands for PONC to help our Kona people, our Hawaii people, our Health through the
Health of the Land and Ocean and also our Future.

Hi Honorable County Council Members,
This 2nd email is to supplement my first email, asking to purchase and protect the 4 land parcels listed
below. The added strong benefits are:
A) Important Benefits not just for the people, it would be more so to the Land,the Ocean and
Nature.
B) The Lands are available now and most likely won't be in the near future as the influx of people
of the World see the values of living in Hawaii, so now is the time to purchase these properties
while they are still available. There are many other properties on the Big Island that are
valuable to be purchased by PONC Funds, I do not want to minimize that importance for the
other properties but these properties should be purchased now while still available and
affordable, before they are bought by private buyers and are gone forever. Open land here
in Kona is only getting scarcer.
C) 2 last Photos attached to this email with Kona Pier by King Kamehameha Marriott Hotel
• showing when Streams and Waterways are not correctly addressed. These 4 properties are
strategically situated that can improve flooding problems and prevent contamination of the
Ocean and property damage. All damage by flooding and erosion are NOT good but damage
to the Ocean thus Coral and Marine Life can have destructive results for decades, thus the
total Hawaii environment. Severe destruction was caused by that one flood in 2015, costing
tens of millions of tangible and intangible costs over the decades, some unrecoverable.These
properties would help in acting as erosion buffers in addition to all the other benefits.
D) The Open space with vegetative growth has also many benefits for the environment, not just
aesthetics.

These properties although small compared to the District of Kona,will help keep Kona more country
and keep it appealing for the Tourist and those who live here. We want Tourists and others to come
here and then depart Kona with a memory of being in Paradise and not a poorly or over developed
sterile area, we want repeat customers and also want those that are residents to stay here to enjoy
what Hawaii is and What our State Motto stands for . The Council Members have a very Important
Responsibility and Privilege to perpetuate our Hawaii Beauty of Spirit and Aesthetics and I hope all of
the members can reflect back to say in the future, I am glad I did that and that your kids and grandkids
and friends can say,THANK YOU for doing what You did back then!.
