Aloha Commissioners and County Council Members,
Safety is a priority in every community and especially in school zones and on roadways, but there are
existing dangers adjacent to Holualoa school that if left as-is then dangerous driving conditions for both
pedestrians and motorists will continue. Therefore, purchase the "2.5 acre property to provide safety in
the community by ameliorating traffic congestion and mitigating flood hazards.
Trees will be planted in the flood zone (which will uptake and diffuse future flood waters in Holualoa
town), lessening flooding impacts to businesses and motorists. A walking path and parking area will
alleviate traffic congestion (keiki and parents can walk safely to school). Everyone who drives Mamalahoa
Highway through Holualoa Village will benefit from smoother traffic flow and increased safety.
Thank you for your consideration in the acquisition for Ke Ala Kakou (Holualoa Community Forest). I look
forward to hearing about your vote for safety. Let's protect our land and watershed and plant some trees!
Mahalo, )
