I am Miho Morinoue, born and raised in Holualoa Village contributing back to the community as a Program
Director for the Donkey Mill Art Center. Collectively we are serving over 600 students annually through arts
integrated programming and growing. We have a very close relationship to Holualoa Elementary School and its
surrounding community of artists, going back over 20 years, and am concerned of how the village may evolve
as population growth increases here in Hawaii.
We need the County's help to purchase, preserve and protect the Ke Ala Ka Kou lot as a PONC lot. The
conservation of this lot will assist Holualoa Village to thrive, protect it from immediate flood damage which has
been increasing in the past 3 years, to connect civic spaces like the Imin Center& Holualoa School to help
develop community engagement opportunities, and the most important, the purchase of this lot will will help
open a safe pathway for children, students of Holualoa Elementary School, and it's community of all ages to
walk safely away from the growing traffic on the Mamalahoa Highway.
I believe it is the civic duty of the Hawaii Council to preserve natural resources and historical places as you
continue to develop and reflect on the bigger picture of sustaining our economic, environmental and
humanitarian integrity as part of the legacy you leave behind.

Please consider purchasing the Holualoa Keala Ka Kou lot for a publicly accessible PONC lot. ,w„
