RE: Holualoa Community Forest TMK 76-004-003
Dear Council Members and Commissioners,
Thank you for considering acquiring this property for our community's benefit and health.
The Ke Ala Kakou Forest would be a riparian zone, slowing water flow in this FEMA flood parcel allowing
water to filter into the aquifer, thus protecting lives, our historic town structures and our ocean.
The Forest would support a safe walking path and open green space which is desperately needed in our
community. Development of a path in the Forest will not only provide a gathering place for locals, but could
be a destination for visitors and tourist, bringing economic benefits to Holualoa businesses.
The Forest path between two civic spaces, the Kona IMIN Community Center and Holualoa Elementary
School, could create connection with the potential for collaboration of educational, cultural, arts and crafts,
and athletic programs.
I encourage you to fund acquiring the Ke Ala Kakou for the reasons mentioned above and to expand and
protect the Ahupua'a.
Sincerely, Ms Mo Snell, Holualoa
