Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 1,471 Re: Resolution Accepting Donation Enclosed is a resolution accepting "Ho`omalule `Upena Kiloi", a bronze statue of a mythological fisherman from local sculptor and craftsman Henry Bianchini. The statue, valued at approximately $10,000, will be located at the recreational area commonly known as "Isles". REQUEST: This is a request to submit an amended resolution to County Council for acceptance of a bronze sculpture !; being donated by Mr. Henry Bianchini. 11 B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS.AS NEEDED): Henry Bianchini is a local sculptor and craftsman who sailed into Hilo Bay on August 21, 1969 on a 30self- built trimaran, "Island Dancer." Henry Bianchint and his shipmate, James"Ow Olsen, witnessed the Mauna Ulu eruption after 19 days at sea, which gave him a unique sense of place. Here it became possible to live his dream of growing his family and his life in art. Henry Bianchini would like to donate"HO/OMALULE 'UPENA KILOI" (Metamorphosis of a Net Fisherman),.a cast bronze statue (Exhibit A) to the Department of Parks and Recreation and to the Hawaiian host culture in honor of the diversity of our island. HO'OMALULE 'UPENA KILOI will be located at the recreational area commonly known as"isles." HO'OlVIALULE `UPENA KILOI is valued at$10,000. SIGNED: , DATE: Department Head to/
