Re: Resolution for multi-year agreement
The Department of Liquor Control seeks to enter into a multi-year lease agreement to
utilize office space at Hanama Place in Kailua-Kona. •
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the County to enter into a four-year, eleven-month
multi-year lease agreement with Puna Plantation Hawai`i, Limited, for approximately
2,162 square feet of office space.
We respectfully request that this resolution be waived from Finance Committee and
placed on the June 2, 2021 Council agenda and that the five-day hold for reconsideration
period also be waived due to time constraints. If there are any questions,please feel free
to contact Daryl Inaba of the Finance Department's Property Management Division at

A. REQUEST:
Prepare County Council submittal authorizing the County of Hawaii Department of Liquor Control (DLC) to
enter into a Lease Agreement for a period of four (4) years and eleven (11) months at 75-5706 Kuakini
Highway in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. DLC will be moving to Hanama Place from the West Hawaii Civic Center to
provide additional office space needed by the Office of Corporation Counsel.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The County of Hawaii Department of Liquor Control proposes to lease units #103 and #107 at Hanama
Place consisting of 2,162 square feet (1,078 s.f. and 1,084 s.f.) owned by Puna Plantation Hawaii, Limited
for Liquor Control's use as staff offices and a conference/meeting room. The proposed lease will be for a
period of four(4) years and eleven (11) months from July 1, 2021 to May 31, 2026 with an option for an
additional four (4) years and eleven (11) months.

RE: RESOLUTION NO. 137-21 : A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE
PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE
FISCAL YEAR FOR A MULTI-YEAR LEASE OF REAL PROPERTY FOR THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF LIQUOR CONTROL
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i,this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
