The island draws in visitors from all over the world. It is a treasure and viewed as a prime vacation location. What
draws people there is the beauty of the land. The beaches. The sunrise and sunsets. The tropical atmosphere. Further
development of the land is unnecessary. Preservation of the island should be the priority. The impact on the ocean and
wildlife should be a priority. Growing up on the island- there was a great deal of emphasis on being eco-conscious-
treating the land with care and respect. There are ample hotels and vacation rentals to accomodate tourism. Each
parcel of land has its value and it is not limited to construction. The plant life, soil, and animals all play a part in the
health of the island. Not every space needs to be plowed down and manicured. There is value to nature being natural.
Providing the message to visitors that the island's natural beauty is worth preserving. Preserve the land. Respect the
land. I have watched the island change- being coated in pavement, condos and shopping centers. This is not what
makes Hawaii special. The impact is visible. We need to stop and consider the long term impact. What are we leaving
for the generations to come?
This plot of land is located near the water's edge. The rise of sea levels is already reducing this space. This park is
valuable to the residents, tourists, and the island's health. As we develop the land we lose many of the archeological
structures and burials. The culture and history of Hawaii is worth preserving.
Reviewing many of the vacation rental sites and MLS listings-there is not a need for further construction of condos in
I-Iawaii. Money cannot be the sole driving force for how decisions are made in Hawaii. We need to see the benefits to
preserving the island: why people want to visit, why people want to live there. It's the pace of life, nature, and the
culture. This location is all of that. Please save this land.
