Subject: Resolution 105-21 formal request for funding of feasibility study
Aloha Respected County Council members:
This is a formal request for resolution 105 -21 the road improvement district & feasibility study for the subdivision of
Hawaiian Acres in Puna.
The request is for the feasibility study to be funded by the County of Hawaii from any of its available sources.
Hawaiian Acres lot owners pay, property and fuel taxes this would be a viable location for funding.
**property tax(drainage in private subdivisions/currently not received)
**Fuel tax(funds for assisting maintanance on private roads that are open &publicly traveled/ currently not received).
Our subdivision and other private subdivisions in Puna flood one another due to improper drainage. Hawaiian Acres
roads continue to degrade due to the amount of water that is guided into our subdivision from Highway 11 at Aloha
Estates, it then crosses the highway, through county roads, feeding culverts, Kupua stream and into Kulani stream
which becomes a raging river that rushes into our mountainside community.
In turn also fooding the unmaintained county "roads in limbo"(Enos, Old Volcano Trail) which are 5 of our
subdivisions emergency access routes leaving only 1 which is Ainaloa. As the feasibility study would include
engineering and surveying this would assist with the knowledge and planning of proper drainage.
You are respectfully asked for consideration in this request as it pertains to,the county funding, the feasibility study
for Hawaiian Acres .
Mahalo for your time and all of the good work our council continues to do for Puna and Hawaii County.
