The regular meeting of the Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public

Safety was called to order at 9:01 a.m., in the Council Chambers, Hilo, by

Comm. 176.2: REQUESTS A PRESENTATION OF THE JUNE 2021 HAWEO AWARD
CERTIFICATE TO CLYDE WILLEY, FIREFIGHTER/EMERGENCY
MEDICAL TECHNICIAN — HAWAI`I FIRE DEPARTMENT

Motion to Close File: Ms. Lee Loy moved to close file on Comm. 176.1. Seconded
by Ms. Kierkiewicz.

CHR. INABA: We have our `ohana from the Hawaii Fire Department here
today. And as we know this is a reoccurring monthly award, alternating between
the Hawaii Police Department and the Hawaii Fire Department. So at this time,
if we can have Chief Todd, and our recipient come up to the table please. Oh, I
love it, we bring our keiki to work. And Chief Todd, if you would just please
share who we have before us, and why this recipient is being recognized today.
CERTIFICATE OF (Note: At this time, the June 2021 HAWEO Award was presented to
APPRECIATION: Clyde "Kai" Willey of the Hawaii Fire Department in recognition of
going above and beyond the call of duty, in service to our community.
His supervisor Chief Kazuo Todd came forward and provided statements
regarding his outstanding performance.)
CHR. INABA: Mahalo nui. We're going to close the communication at this
time, and if we could take a quick photo with you. And one more thing mahalo to
our officials and everyone here from the Hawaii Fire Department, who come to
honor those who do the good work for our community. So with that we have a
motion on the floor to close file on Communication 176.2 all those in favor please
say "aye."
Vote on Comm. 176.2: The motion to close file on Comm. 176.2 was carried
(Approved) by the following voice vote:
Ayes: Committee Members Chung, David,
Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder, Kierkiewicz, Kimball,
Lee Loy, Villegas, and Chair Inaba — 8.

Excused: None.

ADJOURN- There being no further business, at 9:10 a.m., Ms. Lee Loy moved to

voice vote:
