Subject: Mark Van Pernis
I write this email in support of Commissioner Mark Van Pernis. I would request that he remain on the panel and
accommodations provided because of his disability.
I watched the entire April 15 meeting and found that those questions, including follow up clarification questions,
posed by commissioner Van Pernis were spot on to provide answers to issues that needed to be addressed in relation
to the various petitions.
Where are we to lose commissioner Van Pernis, West Hawaii will lose. His years of experience, understanding of the
law and willingness to see and ask difficult, and sometimes unpopular questions, keep all of us moving in the correct
direction. He adds to the commission those elements that make the commission affective, accurate and fair to all.
I urge you to continue to support the Americans with disability act by providing those services and accommodations
that will allow commissioner Van Pernis to continue to serve his term to our community.
