RE: Communication No. 99.4
Councilmember Sue Lee Loy, Chair, and members of the Human Services and Social Services Committee:
We are grateful to the County of Hawaii and this year's Nonprofit Grant Program Ad-Hoc Committee for
the financial assistance and awards. With these funds, we have provided over 300 Hawaii County girls
with valuable STEM,financial literacy and entrepreneurship, and leadership education. Additionally,the
funds from the County of Hawaii helped fund our After School Leadership Program which provides
financial assistance to low income girls to have access to the same programming.
Without this assistance, it would have been impossible for the Girl Scouts of Hawaii on Hawaii Island to
provide the same experiences and education to the girls.We look forward to more opportunities to
partner with Hawaii County to provide for our girls.
This year's Ad-Hoc asked thorough and thoughtful questions; especially the critical questioning of other
barriers our programs are challenged with and we look forward to more collaboration to bridging these
gaps
Sincerely,
ri..,;
Marci Goldman-Manker
