We at the Hawai'i Diaper Bank are grateful to the County of Hawaii and this year's Nonprofit
CELIARQYALE Grant Program Ad-Hoc Committee for the financial assistance and awards. The absence of the
State's Grant in Aid program made the work of this year's Ad-Hoc Committee challenging and
their shift for the presentations of our objectives, activities, outputs, outcomes and impact
allowed us to share more about the work we are doing for the most vulnerable and youngest
members of our community.
AUNTIES&
UNCLES: As you know Hawai'i County has the highest rate of poverty in our state. What you may not
LEALANI realize, is that 38%of the children under the age of five here are living below the federal
ANDRADE poverty level. Our program allows us to link families with our partners and resources they may
SEAN BENITO not have known existed, all from something as simple as a diaper.
CART-ROSE
COLEMAN This year's process, while different, aspires to be a catalyst for positive change across many
JEANNA DELA sectors and lays the foundation for better collaboration between, public, private, and
CRUZ philanthropic partnerships. To date we have distributed over 625,000 donations, 195,000 of
JENNIFER which were diapers. We are excited continue the work we are doing and thank Hawai'i County
EVANGELISTA for all their k6kua of us. The Ad-Hocs thorough and thoughtful questions sparked a discussion
MICHAEL of how we can address some of the barriers our program faces. Mahalo again for your time and
GURITZ considerations. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
