RE: Communication No. 99.4
Aloha Honorable Councilmember Sue Lee Loy, Chair, and members of the Human Services and Social Services,Comrhititee:
Mahalo for your consideration of Ho'oulu Lahui's application for funding to support site planning with community input for our
donated 10 acres in Nanawale. We envision addressing long-term food security through the design and planting of a food-
producing botanical garden for the community.
We are grateful to the County of Hawaii and this year's Nonprofit Grant Program Ad-Hoc Committee for the financial
assistance and awards.
The absence of the State's Grant in Aid program made the work of this year's Ad-Hoc Committee challenging and it was an
adjustment to shift for the presentations of our objectives, activities, outputs, outcomes, and impact, however,we are
committed to demonstrating how our program(s) is./are reaching the most vulnerable in our community.
This year's committee asked clear and deliberate questions including trying to understand other barriers our programs are
challenged with. We look forward to more collaboration to addressing these vulnerabilities and gaps in services/opportunities.
Sincerely,
Susie Osborne
on behalf of Ho'oulu Lahui 501c3
