WHEREAS, Waimea Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated
to promoting the arts, the encouragement of artists, and providing a forum for art -related events
in Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, Waimea Arts Council, founded in 1974 and established as a nonprofit
organization in 1978, is a volunteer organization supported through donations, as well as dues
and contributions from artists who utilize the facility to sell their artwork; and
WHEREAS, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Waimea Arts Council was unable to
generate revenue for approximately six months, however, was still required to provide landscape
maintenance pursuant to its lease agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that
promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Waimea Arts Council for its landscape maintenance
expenses.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
