Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 134-21,reports as follows:
Resolution No. 134-21,transmitted by Director of Finance Deanna S. Sako via Communication
No. 268 dated May 13, 2021, authorizes the acceptance of a donation of a bronze statue of a
mythological fisherman to the County of Hawaii.
This statue, valued at$10,000, was donated by Henry Bianchini, and will be located at the
recreational area commonly known as"Isles."
Parks and Recreation Director Maurice C. Messina informed the Council that a new location was
found for the statue. It will be moved to a location called"Isles"when they can safely move it to
the new location with Mr. Bianchini's guidance. The Council Members thanked Mr. Bianchini
for his donation.
Pursuant to Hawaii County Charter Section 13-12 the Council may accept gifts of donations of
money, securities or other personal property. In addition, Hawaii County Code Section 2-162(a)
states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance may be accepted by a resolution
approved by the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 134-21,
and recommends its adoption.
