"SAVE OUR SURF AND SACRED LANDS FOR PARKS!!! FOR THE NOW AND FUTURE GENERATION!!!
My name is Lokelaniku'ulei Makamae McMichael, I reside in Holualoa and am Kanaka Maoli. This is a URGENT
and RARE opportunity to preserve this Sacred'Aina.
This purchase will PRESERVE FOR outdoor recreation, agricultural landscape, cultural preservation and education..
The public wants to Protect our Beaches from runoff and pollution. The locals strongly wanted to preserve and
promote Hawaiian Culture, tradition, and Customary practices. This land serving what continues to be one of the most
densely populated areas on the Big Island, Public Open Space Land Purchase(PONC) would provide a buffer between
desecration of our sacred WAHI PANA. Rich in archeology the AIS is 161 pages, of this Alii Land. This could be
explored for educational, cultural landscape preservation and recreational purposes. Parks for the Now and Future
Generation, Keiki o ka 'aina ika pono!
My ancestors resided at La'aloa. At Magic Sands Beach is a sign that reads La'aloa(Very Sacred, Mary Kawena Pukui).
She was my grandmas friend in the 1960s', they met via Parks and Recreation.. My grandmother studied Hawaiian
language, and taught Hula for Parks and Recreation. My mother danced hula, solo, for Mary Kawena Pukui's dictionary
celebration party. Our last testimony on April 20th was zoomed on Mary Kawena Pukui's Birthday!
Pahoehoe La'aloa Magic Sands are in the middle of the seven Royal Centers, starting from Kamakahonu to
Honaunau. Kamakahonu has an Oracle tower, Ahu'ena Heiau, built by King Kamehameha 1 to honor LONO, the god.
Where the Kahuna went into trance to receive messages from Ke Akua. It is believed that King Kamehameha I died
at Kamakahonu, then was buried secretly. We still don't know where. Traditional Hawaiian Iwi Kupuna Burials were
done secretly, mostly at night, in layers on top of layers, near where their 'Ohana lived so they could guard the Iwi.
The Royal Alii lived in these areas because of Surfing and Canoe. North and South of Banyans, Pahoehoe and
La'aloa are between two registered National Register of Historic Places Holualoa 4 Archeological district in 2005, and
Kahalu'u 1974. In the Kahalu'u Historic Registry, "SUPERNATURAL FACTOR" was mentioned as a way of
deciding where Heiau were built. Ex planning
Director Michael Yee at a contest case hearing was asked if he ever saw a legal document that reads said
"'Supernatural Factors", his answer was " No". These lands of Royal Centers are Very Spirited and Huge "Mara".
Locals can tell you many stories that will give you chicken skin. Perhaps is one reason why there has been obstacles
for Decades of why these lands have be halted.
Res. 82-21 PAHOEHOE 1ST LA'ALOA MAGIC SANDS, 3-7-7-008:120 AND :124 Land Area (Acreage): 29.8
La'aloa (Very Sacred) This particular property is called "Haleolono." Hale-O-Lono .On all the islands there are
ancient heiau of this name for worship of Lono", including ceremonies to bring rain and growth;... (Mary Kawena

Ref. a
Pukui 1974 :38) The land was named because of the type of heiau located there. A thatched house within a temple
where the highest ranking Chiefs and the gods themselves were kept. (Ii 1973: 56-58) Part of the Great Historic Wall
of Kuakini is here, now is considered by SHPD as a Monument.
The property was previously sold for $9,950,000 million dollars on 9111/2007, $5,000,000 million dollars in
9/04/2012, and in 2021 asking $1.5 million! Sellers are willing to sell to PONC. Below this property is Magic Sands
Beach/La'alo and Kipapaka Park. This connection would be a second access to this property and connect all the way
up to Kuakini Hwy and La'aloa road. RES 81-21 Magics Sands of La'aloa of 8.814 acres will also connect. This
would make it the LARGEST PUBLIC PARK of ALII DRIVE. It would be So Awesome for the All the People of
Hawaii Forever! This is URGENT!! PLEASE PURCHASE THIS NOW!! WE HAVE WILLING SELLERS!! THIS
IS A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE ALL OF THIS SIDE BY SIDE TO CONNECT!! MAKE IT A GRAND
PARK OF OPEN SPACE!!
